The Street Fighter movie which looked to be in production hell, has started moving along nicely. The news of casting continues to flow with one of the more recent announcements being that David Dastmalchian, the star of Late Night With The Devil and Ant Man, will play the role of villain, M. Bison.
Dastmalchian was at San Diego comic con where he spoke to IGN a little about his role as Bison.
While speaking, he said he is honored to play the role and has been going to the arcades to play Street Fighter II as a means to get a feel for the character to better portray them on the big screen.
Bison has been a little hit and miss over the years with the late Raul Julia's term as the deranged dictator being revered as the gold standard. While Neal McDonough tried to bring a different energy to the role in the much-maligned Legend of Chun Li movie, many did not enjoy the character there.
It is hoped that Dastmalchian, who has grown in profile in recent years will be able to bring the menace that the role requires.
He says he has ideas about the character that he is speaking about with the boss.
The movie is believed to be coming out in March of 2026.
