New Chart Shows Japan's Overwhelming Dominance in Street Fighter 6
The nation of the rising sun is a dominant force in Street Fighter

When the topic of the strongest region for Street Fighter is brought up, there are sometimes arguments between Europe and the North America as to which side is more powerful and there seems to be a back and forth on that. However, there is no confusion about the region on top, and that is Japan.

The East Asian nation has produced some of the finest fighting game players to ever grace the earth, but they aren't some bygone giant, they are a real and present force in the landscape of Street Fighter 6 and this has been confirmed after a new chart showing the breakdown of the 500 'Legend' players around the world.

Legend is the highest rank attainable in Street Fighter 6 and is achieved when a player acquires a certain amount of Master Rate points which puts them in the top 500 players on terms of Master Rate. It it these people that receive the Legend title. Unlike Master rank which is permanent and cannot be lost, Legend status is lost the moment you are out of the top 500.

It is a fun little thing for players to aspire to and there has been a great deal of content of players trying to make the rank by winning as many matches as possible.

The chart which was posted by @MrAminechan showed that of the 500 players in Legend rank, 309 of them are Japanese which represents over 60% of the entire number.

This has again brought forth the argument regarding Capcom Cup's criteria and region format. With Japan only allowed 2 guaranteed spots, it locks a significant pool of Japan's talent out of the competition, while other regions that aren't that strong also have the same number of players. The second strongest country was the United States which has 44 players, many of which will be at Capcom Cup as the USA has at least 3 regions which means they will have 6 guaranteed spots in the tournament which is a lot better than Japan's 2. Sure, USA has a larger landmass, but Japan's talent pool is incredibly dense.

With USA having 44 players in Legend rank, it also somewhat quietens the argument of Europe as a force as very few Europeans have the Legend rank. The third country has been a growing force over the last couple of years, and that is China who have 34 players in Legend rank.

With great players like Zhen, Vxbao, and DCQ showing their mettle in Street Fighter League and the last Capcom Cup, it would not be surprising if they are to become a threatening force to the rest of the world.
