More Details Emerge About Ken's Story in Street Fighter 6
We now have more information about Ken Masters in Street Fighter 6

There was a lot to be said about Ken's dramatic new look in Street Fighter 6. Before the character was revealed, people had caught a glimpse of his new design, and immediately, speculation arose about what could have happened to one of the richest men in the Street Fighter universe. Theories ranged from lost fortunes from bad business deals to a bitter divorce which led to his financial ruin.

However, we soon discovered that it was something perhaps a bit more mysterious as it was disclosed that Ken's story in Street Fighter 6 had a lot to do with a false accusation that Ken is trying to avoid.

Now, we know even more thanks to a Game Informer article in which they talked to the brains behind the Street Fighter story and learned about the thinking behind Ken's new direction.

A lot of what we know is thanks to the Twitter user Scotia, who is a content creator who dives into Street Fighter lore.

According to Scotia's thread, a lot of the thinking around Ken was about how to make him interesting again. Ken has long been the rival to the series protagonist Ryu, and one of his defining traits is his stability. By Street Fighter II, Ken was already with the love of his life, and from there, Ken simply grew in wealth, had a kid, and was just awesome. The series' storytellers decided that it would be good for Ken to face some real adversity that would also renew his commitment to fighting and getting better.

We are still in the dark as to what Ken is being accused of, but it is serious enough to have him on the run and dressed like a hobo.

Speaking of his outfit, it has also been revealed that Ken's classic red gi costume will be available in the game. Likely, the other world warrior characters will also have their classic outfits too. It is unknown if this classic outfit will also reduce the characters' ages so that the older, more mature characters will be replaced by their younger selves.

Apart from gameplay, netplay, and all the things Street Fighter 6 has been lauded for so far, the story aspect is of particular interest because this is clearly a new direction for the game. Street Fighter 6 is set to lose the franchise's most iconic villain in Bison, and the older characters now have new motivations. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. We are sure to find out, at least in part, when Capcom releases its collaboration with UDON comics who have been long-time partners in crafting Street Fighter's lore. There is set to be a four-page issue dealing with Ken's backstory for Street Fighter 6 which will shed more light on Ken's predicament.

We look forward to it.
