Street Fighter 6 was the final game for the Evo 2026 lineup and after 2,414 players fought themselves to a standstill, one man stood atop a pile of metaphorical bodies— MenaRD.
MenaRD secured a 4th Evo title following wins at Evo Japan 2024 and 2025 and Evo Vegas wins in 2025 and 2026. This makes him easily the most dominant player across the Street Fighter 5 and 6 era.
Mena defeated Shigematsu, who also uses Blanka, meaning that for the first time in Street Fighter 6 history, there was a mirror match in Grand Finals.
Speaking in his winner’s interview, Mena stated that he believes his dominance comes from the sort of environment he has around him , which includes many talented players, family and friends. He also dedicated his win to his nephew who he told that he would win another Evo. He was asked if following his monumental win in Kemonomichi, a ft10 showdown against Daigo Umehara, he would do a ft10 with any player to which Mena said that while he doesn’t feel he has the right to personally challenge anyone, he is open to fighting whoever would face him.
Mena’s appetite for victory isn’t finished as he still has the Topanga Championship in Japan for which he was able to qualify for the Advanced stage. His Evo win also confirms his qualification for Capcom Cup next year, a trophy he is yet to win in SF6 and will love to add to his collection.
