Mena has been impressed by what he has seen
MenaRD, the only two-time Capcom Cup champion is currently in Japan training with the fighting game community there. He has been participating in matches and sets with local talents and anyone willing to play.
In a recent tweet he stated that he expects that the community will soon have female finalists and winners with the level of what he saw while playing.
Mena was on the Reject TV 'Fighter's Lab' stream which was a hangout of sorts where players could come and train and play sets with one another in a free environment. Mena was on stream against several players, one of them being Betty, a Japanese Juri player with enormous potential. Mena was able to win the set but not without difficulty. After their match the two (with the help of a translator) got talking with Mena asking questions and also really commending her play.
While we have seen champions like Kayane in Soulcalibur and Cuddle_Core in Tekken, Street Fighter, while having a female player base, hasn't really produced female players of that level. But this is changing as players like Betty, Nyampi, and a Brazilian player called Kyuki who was claimed to have won one of the biggest prize pools in Brazil, are looking to stamp their name too.
