Melty Blood: Type Lumina ECT 2023 Results: A Dominating Princess

This MBTL tournament is quite meaningful for the community. First of all, every offline gathering keeps the competition (and the game itself) alive — and especially if it happens at such a big fighting esports event as East Coast Throwdown. And in addition to this, it was a Major Qualifier for the PSA Circuit 2, which certainly adds some extra excitement.

We could not see Arcueid Brunestud at Top 8 of a previous big PSA Circuit 2 qualifier, the MBTL tournament at CEOtaku VII. But here, two players brought the princess, in her usual and Red form. Could one of them reach first place?

The fight between two Arcueid happened in one of the Winners Semi-Finals, Kiri vs Kikoho. It felt like this match was pretty decisive — Kiri won, and Kikoho could not recover after that. The players (and the league organizer) had good chances in the elimination match vs Jaykom, but probably that interruption with a not-disconnected controller affected the guy too much.

Kiri had a super close Winners Final vs Erin (Arcueid Brunestud vs Shiki Tohno). And then, these players faced each other in the same close Grand Final. Only in the GF Reset, Kiri proved superiority of Arcueid over that (annoying) Shoto.

Kiri is the MBTL Champion at East Coast Throwdown 2023. Congratulations! The player got a spot at the Finals event, PSA Summit 2, on March 2-3, 2024.

As for the characters at the tournament and interesting matchups, it is certainly worth noting Mario and the mirror match between two players who brought the boy into the fights. The Losers Round 1 of Jaykom vs Maigo was as chaotic and exciting as you could expect from an anime fighting game.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina has quite a dedicated community, so the game is played at many events. In the near future, we will be able to witness a tournament at Festival of Fights 3: With a Vengeance at Riverside, CA, on November 11-12.

If we look at a more distant future, we certainly shouldn’t miss the MBTL tournament at Frosty Faustings XVI — it will be the last Major Qualifier of PSA Circuit 2
