How Problem-X Won Capcom Cup LCQ
The former Evo champ suffered a lot, but has given us quite the redemption story

Problem-X is the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier for Capcom Cup X and will be joining group H along with Dual Kevin, JabhiM, and Ren just to name a few of the players in the group.

But, the journey had been a very difficult one. Problem-X was a juggernaut in Street Fighter V, winning Evo and was arguably the best player from Europe. However, as Street Fighter V came to an end, and new blood started to come into the scene, most notably, EndingWalker, the former champion found himself going through a tough time. This was exarcebated by the release of Street Fighter 6 which is a very different game to its predecessor with its new  mechanics and very fast gameplay.

Problem-X struggled to come to grips with the game and this showed as he was unable to replicate his success in previous games and was a little behind everyone else.

However, as he stated in his winners' interview, EndingWalker was a great help as the young genius continued to play with Problem-X and helped him improve drastically so as to come into the Last Chance Qualifier with the confidence to win it.

In top 16, Problem-X  had to defeat Julio Fuentes who had already really impressed by beating heavyweights such as Mago, Nemo, and Seo. But, Problem-X, who has settled on Blanka as his main pick, was able to clutch it out and pave the way to Top 8.

Once there, he once again had to face a very in-form player in JB, who had defeated favourite, Kakeru already. But, Problem-X again showed that he was more than up to the task and won the match. But what came next was very daunting as he now had to face Punk in Winners' final. Punk has been touted as one of the best players to ever grace the Street Fighter scene and was in a desperate situation never really ever finding himself in the position of needing an LCQ to make Capcom Cup. Up against Problem-X, he swatted the last season SFL Europe champion aside with relative ease.

This meant Problem-X had to fight his way through losers' final, which was another match with JB, to gain his runback against Punk. He was able to defeat JB and in the Grand Final had to contend with Punk again.

Punk had already defeated Daigo and Tokido, two legends in the game, and was looking to make it to the Capcom Cup tournament for a chance to win the $1,000,000. But, he was stopped in his tracks by Problem-X who was able to force a reset, defeat Punk's Luke pick, and take the whole thing.

When talking about it later, he stated that one of the things he was able to use against Punk was the latter's commitment to fundamentals. Problem explained that this made it very easy to understand where he  went wrong and what to do to correct himself. He suggested that against a more gimmicky playstyle, he might have been unable to gain the very significant victory.

This means the UK now had three representatives in Capcom Cup as EndingWalker and Rainpro are both already in the competition and will now be joined by Problem-X.

The tournament kicks off on Wednesday, the 21st of February 2024.
