Hibiki, Ryukichi, Five Others, Obtain Japanese Pro Gamer Licenses
The players can now compete professionally in fighting games

Seven Japanese players have acquired pro gamer licenses for Street Fighter 6 from the Japanese Esports Union (JeSU) who are the professional body in charge of regulating the esports scene in Japan.

Daigo was the first ever player to be recognized as a pro gamer and JeSU was established in 2018 to help players get some sort of sustainable income in the esports scene and organize the space.

Most prominent of the players who just got their license is Hibiki the Beast, whose Lily has been the talk of the Street Fighter community. Newly signed FAV Gaming Ken player, Ryukichi also got his license along with Ebihara, Jr., Eda, Youdau and Naoon.

These licenses are handed out to players who have shown exceptional talent in Street Fighter and have won tournaments.

The licenses are important as it enables players to compete in big tournaments within Japan especially Street Fighter League which is considered the biggest fighting game tournament in the country.

In a press release, Capcom have stated that there will be 12 teams in the upcoming Street Fighter League Japan and it would be sponsored by Nagoya Oja Body Star who are one of the competing teams.

The lineup of teams is unclear at the moment, and whether Hibiki's team, SBI esports will be part of the competition this year and if not, if he will be picked by any of the existing teams.

Street Fighter League Japan 2024 will commence in the summer of 2024.
