Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Reaches 4 Million Sales Milestone
It has shattered all Guilty Gear records that came before it, and this bodes well for the future

Arc System Works' Guilty Gear -STRIVE- has reached a major milestone, with the developer announcing that the game has now surpassed 4 million sales.

The ASW team made the announcement on X alongside an illustration by Shoichi Kitazono.

GGST, as it is commonly known, released in 2021 to a lot of fanfare. Since then, the game has managed to break through the "anime fighter" ceiling and become more mainstream. Thanks to its competitive popularity and a steady stream of memorable characters, GGST has gone on to become the most successful entry in the Guilty Gear franchise.

The game has since spawned an anime adaptation, featured a guest appearance from Lucy of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and earned global acclaim. It hit 1 million sales in 2022, and at the time, ASW revealed that it was the first Guilty Gear title to reach that milestone.

Four years later, the game has sold another 3 million copies and is still going strong, as shown by its registration numbers at Evo Las Vegas. GGST is currently the fifth most registered game among the 12 main-stage titles, with just under 1,000 competitors signed up. It also serves as the headline game for the Arc World Tour and has cultivated a loyal fanbase.

With the success of both GGST and Dragon Ball FighterZ, Arc System Works' next project, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, looks like it could continue that momentum and potentially take the studio to another level.
