The world of the Master Rate grind is a pretty ruthless one. Ever since Capcom introduced the new system which sees players over a period of time amass points to move up the table which then resets after some time, players all over the world have been a mad dash to top the table and gain bragging rights.
The trend has really caught on in Japan with the pros in that region desparate to occupy the top spot and one up each other. For instance, the trend used to be to hit 2000 MR which was enough to put you at the top of the global table. However, as time went on, the ceiling only continued to rise and right now, the aim seems to be to break 2300 MR. Two players who had the capacity to do this were Moke, the Gyogun player, and former Evo champion, Fuudo.
In a stream from a couple of days ago, Moke, who plays live on YouTube, was trying to break into 2300 MR and faced a plethora of strong opponents. All through this, he kept checking to see how Fuudo was getting along. Finally, the two met and played a set. The win would not have taken any of them above 2300 MR, but a defeat was going to be a significant blow.
Moke won the first round and looked well placed to win the second round as he had Fuudo in the corner and burnt out. But, being an Evo champ is no fluke and somehow Fuudo fought back and won the round. He was then able to take the third round and win the game. Moke, ready to go again was then utterly shocked to see that Fuudo immediately exited, effectively cutting off Moke's chance of a comeback. This is commonly known as 'one and done.'
Moke wasn't as salty as you'd expect and simply went on with his day, but Fuudo's action did cause some interest online especially when an account explained what happened and posted the clip.
