Esports World Cup LCQ: Players Bemoan Lack Of Streams

The Esports World Cup for Street Fighter 6 starts in less than a week. However, prior to the tournament proper, fans were licking their lips at the prospect of a pretty stacked last chance qualifier which would see four more players qualify for the final. However, fans were blindsided by the news that only top 8 would be streamed and everything else would simply be played at the venue. 

Worse still is the fact that streaming on-site was banned which meant that players like Tokido and Moke who were planning livestreams had to keep their streams to their wanderings around the venue rather than the games. 

It is a sad reality as there have already been some pretty surprising upsets that would have been amazing to watch, but fans will now have to settle for the top 8 which has the disadvantage of losing its flavor from around the losers semi-finals because by then the four qualifiers for the main event would already be known. 

Big Bird, who is at the venue talked about the siituation and even gave some information about some of the upsets. 

Big Bird did note that the team handling the LCQ are a new team local to the region without much experience and would not be the same team handling the main event. 

Brian_F, a pro player and content creator, also talked about it, disappointed at the fact that there is a lot of money in the event, the best players in the world, but nowhere for people to watch. Fans also cannot watch the local talent strut their stuff which makes one wonder why even bother. 

The top 8 of the Esports World Cup LCQ will be streamed on the official EWC YouTube channel on Saturday the 3rd of August 2024.
