DreamHack Birmingham Sends SF6 and CotW Players to EWC
3 players from both SF6 and CotW are now on their way to EWC

DreamHack Birmingham is now complete, with qualification spots for the Esports World Cup secured in both Street Fighter 6 and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Gachikun's First Big Win In a While

For Street Fighter 6, there were two spots up for grabs, claimed by Gachikun and the young prodigy Micky.

Gachikun went on to win the tournament, defeating Micky in the Grand Final after the latter managed to reset the bracket. Despite the setback, Gachikun showed resilience to clutch out the victory.

For Gachikun, this marks a significant moment. It is his first major tournament win since 2024, when he claimed DreamHack Dallas. While his team, Good 8 Squad, has consistently performed well and he has played his part, his individual results had dipped somewhat prior to this victory.

ZJZ Takes the CotW Spot

In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, ZJZ emerged as the winner, defeating Dark Angel from Mexico in the Grand Final.

Unlike Street Fighter 6, only one qualification spot was available for CotW, meaning Dark Angel will need to look elsewhere to secure a place at the Esports World Cup.

Go1 And Xiao Hai Crash Out

It was unusual not to see Go1 finish in the top two, which had been a consistent trend since the release of CotW. This time, he placed third, which was coincidentally the same position he achieved in Street Fighter 6.

Meanwhile, Xiao Hai, the defending Esports World Cup champion for Street Fighter 6, now has to qualify again due to a new rule. Only players who remain with the same club from their previous appearance are able to retain their spot.

He managed a top-eight finish in Street Fighter 6 but could go no further. In CotW, his run ended earlier, as he exited in the top 16.

The Esports World Cup will take place later this year, with more qualification events expected to shape the final lineup.
