The Argentine was the winner in a great set with his teammate
The Capcom Pro Tour rumbles on and we now have a winner for the South American West region in Dookie. The Argentine Bison player took the tournament against fellow teammate, Frozen who is well known as the best Nash in the region.
He is now the sixth person to qualify for Capcom Cup next year from the CPT route. He joins, Momochi, Justakid, Samurai, Mister Crimson, and The4Philzz.
Dookie was a favorite from the very first day taking most of his games with relative ease until the Grand Final. In the Winners final, he came up against Shaka22, an accomplished Dhalsim player who had already caused his fair share of damage in the bracket and even then, comfortably beat him 3-0. So when he was up against Frozen, it felt like he would just steamroll his way to the championship. However, Frozen, who was just coming from an incredible Losers bracket run, was more than a match for Dookie, forcing a bracket reset before finally losing 3-2.
The top 8 had several fun matches and stories with the likes of Younghou really making for an entertaining bracket with his Birdie. But the most intriguing story was of Frozen who was sent to Losers from Top 16 by his training partner, Shaka22. From the Losers, Frozen put together an impressive run that culminated in a rematch with Shaka22 whose Dhalsim had gotten the better of Frozen earlier. Frozen started the set with Kage, hoping the pick would throw Shaka off, but his opponent was a wily customer and was able to handle Kage well. Seeing that the experiment wasn't going to work, he went back to Nash, but even then, he lost again and was looking at an ignoble 3-0 defeat. At this point, Frozen showed why he can be considered one of the clutch players of his region as he brought the game back to 2-2 before taking the final game to get to the Grand Final.
The next CPT event is the Asia Southeast region which will take place on the 16th of July 2022.
Congratulations to Dookie on a great win!
