Combo Breaker 2022: Are You Ready?
The Day is upon us, what can we expect from this tournament?

We've waited for weeks, and it is now finally upon us. Combo Breaker 2022 commences today! The tournament marks the first time the entire FGC has felt free to travel anywhere for a tournament. Sure, there was CEO last year, but with restrictions on travel and some fear over health protocols, the turnout wasn't as great. But, with things returning to a semblance of normalcy, this event is a big deal.

So, what are we looking forward to this weekend?

Non-Stop Fighting Game Action

Combo Breaker will be bringing the action with 24 main games announced as part of the weekend. This includes all the major titles like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, Skullgirls, Guilty Gear -STRIVE- and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It has also been announced that the tournament will feature smaller community competitions for several games that might not be on the main roster like Ultra Street Fighter IV, Toy Fighter, Guilty Gear XX, and so many others.

With these many games, there is something for everyone, and with most of the games being streamed, you do not have to miss out on the action.

Hype Rivalries

One of the peculiarities of the FGC is the story surrounding games. Regions have fierce rivalries and everyone wants to be able to claim that they are the best. We will have all of this at Combo Breaker 2022 with several regional team battles set to take place. There is North America vs France Dragon Ball FighterZ battle set to take place later today. Perhaps the most talked-about team battle is the North America vs Europe Tekken 7 10v10 match. This has dominated the water cooler discussion for the last week or so as America and Europe battle it out for the best region. You can find out more info about them here.

Street Fighter V is not left out of the action as tomorrow sees the Midwest region of the United States squaring off against the West Coast in a 5v5 exhibition for bragging rights. The winners of these exhibitions will leave Chicago with some serious clout and we can't wait to watch all the action.

Potential Announcements and Showcases

Another huge draw of Combo Breaker 2022 is the potential for a new announcement. A few days ago, we got information of some changes coming to Guilty Gear -STRIVE- and while that was great, the information about new DLC characters was missing and there is some suspicion that we might get more info this weekend. While it is also possible for the new character announcement to be done at Evo later this year, there is every possibility that we will hear something at Combo Breaker especially as GGST is the most engaging game this weekend.

Furthermore, we have clarification that on the side of Skullgirls, we'll be getting a hands-on look at its latest character, Black Dahlia. This weekend will see players test the character out and it will be a chance to whet the appetite of fans before she is released on Steam in June
