Week 7 of Street Fighter League USA took place with three mouth-watering matches:
- Shopify Rebellion vs. FlyQuest
- Cloud9 vs. Bandits
- Red Rooster vs. Fighting Spirit
Last week, Fighting Spirit dismantled high-flying Cloud9 40-0 in a clinical performance that left many shocked. However, seeing then recover and do it against the defending champions, Bandits, was even more shocking. Cloud9 have had an amazing debut season and for a team of largely inexperienced players, they have typically been unfazed by the level of competition they have faced.
NoahTheProdigy, Lexx, and Booce are all SFL newbies, but under the leadership of JB have handled themselves like seasoned veterans.
Against Bandits, one could have expected a very close match, but it was instead a show of skill from Cloud9 who defeated everyone Bandits sent up. First taking down Zhen with Lexx, before JB took aim at Caba and defeated him. One would have expected Mena to rein things back in with 20 points, but against Booce, he more than met his match. Booce has done pretty well against Mena recently, defeating him in the World Warrior for North America East which was a shock to many.
Considering Mena got Zhen on his team because the latter seemed to have figured him out, to find yet another formidable opponent who could outdo Mena was certainly interesting. The win put Cloud9 back within touching distance of the top of the table.
In the other matches, Shopify Rebellion who have been slowly clawing their way back were so close to defeating FlyQuest 40-0, but Punk was in typical fashion able to turn a 0-2 deficit to a 3-2 victory and he also took the tiebreaker match to ensure he won 25 points for his team. The last match saw Red Rooster manage to gain 10 points off Fighting Spirit, but this still leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table with little to no hope of making the playoffs.
