In what has to be one of the least obvious collaborations of all time.
Not to be a shill here, but Capcom might be taking the "high quality skin" to the next level by having the Mecha Gief come with a whole damn song.
And of course, it only makes sense to get a metal band for the man made of steel. What's personally impressive though is that it's not just some no-name metal band. Not an in-house composer making a metal cover for the existing theme. It's Cavalera Conspiracy!
For those unfamiliar, Cavalera Conspiracy is a band formed by, wait for it, the Cavalera brothers. If you're not into metal, this might not mean much, but these are the guys behind Sepultura, an incredibly acclaimed and influential Brazilian heavy metal band.
The Cavalera brothers have also took part in a few other bands, like Soulfly and Nailbomb, but Cavalera Conspiracy has become their main project after leaving Sepultura.
Suffice to say, this goes exactly as hard as you'd expect and then some. They even managed to sneak in the classic melody from Zangief's Street Fighter II theme.
If you're a fan, you'll probably be happy to hear that you can also rep the band with avatar gear that should become available for free.
