Capcom's New Program Will Prepare People for Street Fighter 6
The show called Metro City Academy will get people even more ready for the FGC's most anticipated game of 2023

With Street Fighter 6 less than six months away, Capcom have decided to torture us s we await the most anticipated fighting game of the year. Through the official Street Fighter Twitter account, it was announced that a new web series called Metro City Academy will start airing this Friday with the aim of guiding players, old and new, into understanding the mechanics behind Street Fighter 6.

According to the post, the series will look to break down characters and other mechanics to aid players as they prepare for SF6. Also of note, the show will have rotating guests and is hosted by Vicious, who has been at the forefront of most things Street Fighter 6. The first guest is Evo legend and retro fighting games extraordinaire Justin Wong, with the promise of other prominent guests to come later.

For his part, Vicious stated that the show's target is to further prepare people for the game and pick the brain of the guest to squeeze as much information as possible.

This is a welcome development as it makes life easier for people who are looking to get into Street Fighter for the first time and may not be familiar with some of the game's mechanics. It is also great for veterans as each guest is likely to be either a pro gamer or a skilled content creator who can explain all the jargon that more experienced players are used to hearing.

The reaction to the show has been positive, with most commenters and responders praising Capcom's effort and stating how important it is to have a platform like this.

We are unsure who the first showcase will be, but fans have suggested that it could be Manon and Deejay, considering how little we have gotten to see their kit. This is in relation to some gameplay footage that was released by Capcom that showcased two matches, one between Manon and Deejay and another between JP and Marisa. Unfortunately, since amateurs played the Manon/Deejay match, we didn't really get to see what they could both do.

Metro City Academy airs this Friday, 20th January 2023, at 1 pm Pacific time on the Street Fighter Twitch channel.
