The replacement is gorgeous
Capcom has released a replacement piece of artwork for its second Street Fighter 6 illustration contest.
This comes after controversy surrounding an earlier entry that featured Kimberly. Following investigations by community members, it was reported that the artist behind the submission had violated Capcom’s contest rules. Capcom then conducted its own review and confirmed the violation.
In response, the company has unveiled an official illustration of Kimberly, which will now appear on the ranked match screen and be available to all players.
The illustration contests held by Capcom have consistently produced striking works that add flavor and variety to Street Fighter 6. They also serve as a way to engage the fighting game community, particularly the artists who contribute their talent. The disqualified entry was believed to have used generative AI, a breach of contest rules, and a slight to a community known for investing real effort and creativity into its work.
Many fans have welcomed Capcom’s decision and are pleased that a new, authentic piece will be showcased.
