Capcom Release New Website and Details For CPT 2023
Tournament season is almost upon us and Capcom has given details about what to expect for the Capcom Pro Tour 2023 season

With the June 2nd release date for Street Fighter 6 coming ever closer, we now have more details about the tournament season that will follow and we have reason to get even more excited.

The Capcom Pro Tour season generally starts towards the end of the first quarter of the year or very early in the second quarter. However, with the release of Street Fighter 6 in June which is towards the end of the second quarter, we can safely say we will be having something of a condensed season this year. Capcom has now released some details as to how the CPT season will proceed.

First was the announcement of a brand new website which houses all the information about the coming season. The website is easily accessible and has a toggle at the top right-hand corner which lets you read in English or Japanese.

Currently, on the website, there is some info regarding the number of players who will qualify for Capcom Cup and the breakdown of the tournament.

There will be four routes to qualify for Capcom Cup:

  • Online Premiers
  • Offline Premiers
  • World Warrior
  • Last Chance Qualifier

A total of 48 players will make it to Capcom Cup X next year with 18 coming from the online premiers, 3 from the offline premiers, 26 from the World Warrior events, and one final player from the last chance qualifier.

There are fewer offline premiers with Evo being one of them while we don't know what the others will be yet. The World Warrior event which was introduced last season has been a success as it has introduced us to so many talented players that we would not have otherwise known about.

There was also a breakdown of the prize money for Capcom Cup X with the winner taking home a cool 1 million dollars while 2nd and 3rd place will win $300,000 and $200,000 respectively. The prize pool is generous as even 5th place will get $10,000 which is a very respectable amount to take home.

There will be more updates including the CPT calendar and the two other tournaments that will act as offline premiers for the season. Note that the entirety of the CPT 2023 will be held on Street Fighter 6 and classic or modern controls are tournament legal.

Street Fighter 6 will have an open beta from the 19th to the 21st of May and will release worldwide on the 2nd of June, 2023.
