Capcom Pro Tour 2023 South Africa Results and Standings

The South African Capcom Pro Tournament took place today with the winner booking a place at Capcom Cup X. 

The favourite for the tournament was JabhiM who had won the last edition and was at Capcom Cup last year after defeating Billy Date. This time, he was once again the winner defeating MarkTheShark 3-1 to book his place at his second Capcom Cup. 

JabhiM has already proven himself as the top South African player and was introduced to the world earlier this year when he defeated Tokido at the Red Bull Kumite 2023 in South Africa. 

Then he used Chun li and also showcased his Lily. But for this tournament, he went with Dee Jay and the character served him well as he blew everyone away.

The other person who made Capcom Cup IX from South Africa, Ren, was also in the top 8 and finished in third place eventually losing to MarkTheShark in losers' final after initially sending him out of the winners' bracket. 

MarkTheShark has a Mortal Kombat background, but has already really impressed in Street Fighter 6 and even with this loss, he has a chance to make it with the World Warrior event where he is currently sitting in 5th place and with the top 8 eligible for the regional final event, he will have another stab at glory. 

Next on the agenda is Europe North and East and it will be interesting to see who can take their place at Capcom Cup from that region. It promises to be a spectacular event.
