The Central America East Capcom Pro Tour had for years been dominated by the Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic scenes especially with a strong player like MenaRD representing year after year. However, with his move to the United States, it meant that Mena was not in the tournament and the position of the 'favourite' was now up in the air.
There were some really great players especially Defend the North 2023 winner, Caba, Ajax Fidelity, and Luiman. As it turned out, Caba was the winner defeating 20-year-old Jimmy-D who was also using Guile.
The tournament had been postponed for weeks after the initial tournament was affected by some severe network issues and things had to be rescheduled. This meant that three matches of the top 8 had already been played and things took off with Ajax Fidelity against Bryan-D. It was a close match, but the Juri lost to the Guile.
The two would meet again in losers' final and this time is was a comprehensive defeat for Ajax as Bryan-D advanced to the Grand Final to play the deadly Caba.
Caba is easily one of the best Guiles in the world and it can be argued that he has somewhat suffered from being under MenaRD's shadow. However, he is a Defend the North Winner and Combo Breaker finalist amongst other great accolades.
With this win, he will once again find himself at Capcom Cup where he can show just how impressive he is in Street Fighter 6.
