Capcom has announced some major changes for Street Fighter League ahead of the upcoming season.
Street Fighter League is an annual team competition where organizations from different regions battle in a league format for the ultimate prize. Traditionally, Japan's season begins first before Europe and the United States start later in the year.
As the league's popularity has grown, several changes have been introduced over the years, with the upcoming season's adjustments potentially being the biggest so far. Starting this season, SFL will restructure its regional format.
This means an expansion of the two existing international leagues. SFL US will now become SFL Americas, covering North, Central, and South America, while SFL Europe will become SFL EMEAA, covering Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asian countries outside Japan.
The announcement also raises several questions that currently remain unanswered. For example, will the expanded regions lead to more teams in both SFL Americas and SFL EMEAA? And what happens to the proposed SFL Asia, which was announced back in January? For now, there are no clear answers.
