Capcom Announce Change To Street Fighter League World Final Rules
This seems to be to cut down on time constraints

Capcom have announced that there will be a rule change that will affect the finals for the Street Fighter League Worlds, which will move the overall total score necessary for victory from 90 points to 70 points.

Capcom released a statement on the Capcom esports social media account, explaining this rule change.

The statement reads: We will be making some changes to the rules of the Street Fighter League: World Championship 2024 as follows:

Changes: Finals rules

■ Before change: Victory condition: First to reach 90 points

■ After change: Victory condition: First to get 70 points

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this last-minute rule change to the participating teams and players, as well as to the fans who are looking forward to the tournament, and we appreciate your understanding.

There will be no changes to the schedule on the day of the tournament, scheduled for Sunday, March 9th from 11:00 to 18:00 (JST). However, the end time may change depending on the progress of the tournament.

It seems this change was made to ensure that the event doesn't run beyond its alloted time as was the case with the Street Fighter League USA Grand Final. In that instance, RobTV was accused of leaving ChrisCCH out of the victory interview, to which he explained that they had run out of time and that he was actually only going to interview Punk and end it there, but eventually let Psycho and Shine get a word in.

This will mean that the Grand Finals will not exceed three to four rotations between teams.

The Street Fighter League World Championship will now end after the Capcom Cup run is done, which is a first, and indicates the seriousness with which Capcom is taking Street Fighter League which has seen a rise in popularity, especially in Japan.
