Blaz Names Punk As The Greatest Street Fighter Player In The World
The prodigy gave props to the latest Evo winner

Blaz has become something of an overnight celebrity after his 2nd place finish at Capcom Cup in only his second offline tournament. He defeated a lot of champions on his way to his final loss to Kakeru.

When asked in a video on his organization's social media page about who he thought is the best player, he plopped for Evo 2024 winner, Punk.

In a short video where Blaz was playing 'This of That' the FGC edition, he was made to choose between 2 players who he thought was the greatest.

The first option was between NuckleDu and Luffy for which he went for NuckleDu. He was then asked to choose between NuckleDu and Punk to which he answered Punk, and his answer was consistently the Evo winner till the end of the video. This meant he chose Punk over the likes of Xian, Momochi, Sako, Bonchan, and even Tokido and Daigo.

Punk even responded to the video stating that it made him emotional and that he hopes his gameplay can inspire other kids to also pick up the game and get better and better.

As a young player himself, Punk is certainly more of a role model than some of the older Japanese players that Blaz probably never got to see in their pomp. Blaz himself is on the road to becoming a legend, and with qualification for the Esports World Cup already secured, there is at least one offline tournament he will be attending to show the world how strong he is.
