It is his second time in three years
Adel "Big Bird" Anouche emerged as the winner of the latest Red Bull Kumite held in France. The 10th anniversary of the legendary event was a showcase of the best that Street Fighter 6 had to offer.
Big Bird defeated English prodigy, EndingWalker, to win his second Red Bull Kumite title in 3 years.
Big Bird played the role of the villain as he defeated Kusanagi and Kilzyou, two of France's top talents and two players that were vocally backed by the home crowd. He then went one better defeating MenaRD, who was the winner of Red Bull Kumite 2024, before defeating EndingWalker to finish up the tournament.
For EndingWalker, it was a disappointment as while he exorcised some demons, he didn't get them all.
He had lost to Kakeru back in 2023 which also happened to be the year Kakeru burst into the collective consciousness of the FGC with his brilliant play. EndingWalker had played the Capcom Cup 11 winner in the LCQ Grand Final and lost.
But this time around, he was the victor, using his Ryu to overcome Kakeru's JP.
EndingWalker and Big Bird have some tournament history as he had stood in the way of the English prodigy at Evo 2024, first defeating him at the start of top 8 and then defeating him again in loser's final. EndingWalker finished 3rd and while that was impressive, he wanted more.
This time, he was also hungry, but somehow could not get the better of Big Bird and fell 5-3. At the end, he slumped back in his seat, the most emotion we have ever seen from EndingWalker. He did tweet, saying he will defeat Rashid.
For Big Bird, it was a relief as he would not finish another tournament in second place and it once again cements him as one of the best in the world.
