The whole situation around Android 21 (Lab Coat) is very interesting as it demonstrates the power of the community. But also, it perfectly highlights some gaps in communication between the development company and the players.

First, Dragon Ball FighterZ gets a pretty much broken character. That was widely discussed on socials, but only when the Combo Breaker organizers started considering banning Lab Coat, did Bandai Namco enter the conversation with a vague promise to release a balance update.
And then, the company fell into another period of silence. The very presence of Android 21 (Lab Coat) at Combo Breaker 2022 made the tournament less spectacular. The community tried to compete with her on the roster, and that did not work well. But again, only the interference of a big tournament organizer made the developers say something. CEO 2022 has Android 21 (Lab Coat) banned.
After that, Bandai Namco posted this tweet with more specific info on the balance update.
The announcement is surprisingly promising. Now we know the terms when the game will change (probably drastically), so we can plan our practice accordingly.
It’s great to see the community actively influencing the evolution of fighting games. And perhaps the companies will try and boost their level of communication.
Anyways, this update is exciting even beyond the Lab Coat situation. Could the game get a fresh wave of attention from the wide FGC? Let’s hope so!
We still have time to enjoy the current meta, though. Why not check out the DBFZ Composition at Combo Breaker 2022!
