Air Traffic Control Strike Threatens Travel Plans Ahead of Evo France
Solutions are a bit thin on the ground

The French air traffic control union SNCTA has announced a strike from October 7 to 10, 2025, just days before the start of Evo France 2025. The timing is especially concerning for the global fighting game community, as many international players and fans are expected to travel to France for the major tournament.

The planned strikes will heavily disrupt flights to and from France, as well as flights passing through French airspace. Early estimates suggest that tens of thousands of travelers could face cancellations or severe delays, with airlines and operators now scrambling to adjust their schedules.

Evo France 2025 is set to take place from October 10 to 12, making this strike period especially delicate. With the strike ending on the tournament’s opening day, many competitors may face tight timelines or even risk missing their pools if their flights are delayed or canceled.

Considering the fact that a places in Capcom Cup 12, and other tournaments like Tekken World Tour and AWT are on the line, this is particularly stressful for players yet to qualify for the event. For those who are still keen on traveling, they might need to consider alternatives. Perhaps the most feasible option would be to land in a neighboring country and take a train into France. High-speed rail networks like the TGV and Eurostar remain strong alternatives for those entering France by land.

While tournament organizers have not yet issued a formal statement, the FGC is already buzzing with concern online. If the strikes go ahead as planned, they could impact player attendance and tournament scheduling, particularly for early brackets. Evo France is set to be one of the most anticipated Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 events of the year, so organizers will be closely monitoring developments.

It doesn’t help that some players have also voiced some concerns about the brackets with the claim being that they registered but cannot find themselves in any of the main brackets. Top Street Fighter 6 players like Zhen and Chris Wong have spoken about this and there hasn’t been any official solution found.

Evo France 2025 will be the first to ever be held in Europe and it is hoped that the several problems plaguing it at the moment can be resolved swiftly.
