92-Years-Old Grandma Just Won a Tekken Tournament
Take care of your elders, please.

We often hear questions like "I am 30, is it too late to start competing?" or even people in their mid to late 20s acting like their reaction times and dexterity are not competitive anymore.

Well, how about competing at 73? Maybe 85? Perhaps even 95? These numbers certainly didn't stop the grandpas and grandmas participating in Care-eSports's most recent Tekken 8 tournament.

To promote good health, activity and casual participation in esports, they host these biannual tournaments and treat them like proper esports events, with the castors, spectators, and even some level of production.

The latest tournament only had 8 participants, all in their 70s and older. In spite of that, they seem to be enjoying themselves quite a lot, especially the winner of the tournament, the 92-years-old Hisako Sakai.

She was vigorously mashing away while playing Claudio and Armor King, often overcoming her opponent's attempts at more methodical mashing, showing a bright smile when it pays off with a win.

Obviously it's not the sort of competition that you're used to seeing, and I doubt any of them were trying to look up YouTube guides before playing, but it's beautiful to see that old folks are not forgotten.

At this age, it's important to still engage in something fulfilling, especially if it helps to keep the mind sharp and stops days from looking the same. Props to Care-eSports for looking out for old people, and maybe it will give some of you more ideas on how to connect with older people that you have in your life.
