He is the latest young player to storm the scene
Street Fighter 6 has ushered in a new generation of young players who are setting the competitive scene alight. Over the past few years, several rising stars have burst onto the scene, with the likes of Blaz and Craime generating plenty of excitement thanks to their talent and long-term potential.
The end of the year also saw the emergence of another young titan from Japan, as Hinao secured qualification for Capcom Cup 12 and further reinforced the strength of the game’s next wave of competitors.
The new year has now begun with another major announcement, as one of North America’s most promising young players, LUGABO, has signed with 2Game Esports. The Mexican player has been on the radar since 2024, when he came close to qualifying for Capcom Cup but fell at the final hurdle.
In 2025, however, LUGABO returned with renewed determination. He went toe-to-toe with far more experienced opponents throughout the season and ultimately secured his place at Capcom Cup by winning the Mexican regional final, defeating veteran player MJ_Gama in the process.
2Game Esports recently announced the signing of Argentina’s Shaka22, and the addition of LUGABO further strengthens what is quickly becoming one of the most formidable rosters in the South American region.
Previously, LUGABO competed under Illicit Gaming, the same organization that sponsors Kusanagi and Uriel Velorio. With this new move to 2Game Esports, expectations are high, and fans can look forward to seeing what the talented youngster can achieve on a bigger stage.
