1994 Street Fighter Movie Still Making Capcom Money
Campy, a little convoluted, but with incredible charm, and most importantly, still making money

In 1994 following the success of Street Fighter II, a live-action movie for the game was greenlit and it was eventually released to some pretty weak reviews with critics unhappy with many aspects of the movie.

However, over time, the movie has gained cult status and is perhaps the most well-known Street Fighter movie till date.

According to a report from the latest Capcom shareholder’s meeting, the movie is still raking in tens of millions of yen for Capcom even 30 years later and has turned out to be a commercial success.

The movie starred Van Damme, Ming-Na Wen as Chun Li, Kylie Minogue as Cammy, and the late great Raul Julia as M. Bison in a performance that is still considered by many as his very best.

Capcom is still looking to get into the live-action movie market with plans for a new Street Fighter movie underway, but have hit a snag with the loss of their proposed directors.

The Street Fighter 1994 movie is available for streaming on various platforms.
