A deep dive into fighting game classics and some of the current titles
The main lineup for Evo 2023 was announced back in February. A lot of stuff has happened since then, including super exciting Evo Japan. Now, we discovered what rather smaller games will be highlighted at the biggest FGC event in August.
Nine of the community tournaments at Evo 2023 were named in the official tweet. The other nine are listed on the start.gg page.
But why not make a full list here and now? This is DashFight, baby, so all the important fighting games info is on our platform:
- Soulcalibur VI
- Skullgirls: 2nd Encore
- DNF Duel
- Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
- Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]
- BlazBlue: Centralfiction
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
- Street Fighter V
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Street Fighter III: Third Strike
- Ultra Street Fighter IV
- Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium
- Marvel vs Capcom 2
- Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R
- Vampire Savior
It’s crazy to see SFV among the community tournaments, but the amazing success of SF6 makes this previous installment totally “last-gen.”
But being at such fighting esports gatherings is certainly a sign for a game of having a substantial active community. And it was great to see many of these titles at Combo Breaker 2023.
