Evo 2023 Announcement Show Summary: August Dates & Games lineup

Right out of the gate, it was announced that Evo 2023 would return to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, running from August 4th to the 6th, and feature a new sponsor in Chipotle, with Sony Inzone being a returning sponsor.

Here is the complete list of Main Titles for the event, all of which will feature at least $25,000 in prizes.

• Tekken 7
• King of Fighters XV
• Melty Blood: Type Lumina
• Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate
• Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

One of the most significant changes announced regarding its format is that the final Top 8 has been replaced with a final Top 6. According to the Evo team, this change will shorten the finals of each game to allow each match in said Top 6 to have the gravitas an Evo finals match commands. Of course, this has sparked a lot of discussions within the FGC, as it is a major change not only from Evo history, but most FGC competitions.

Alongside the main titles, we had the confirmation of the side events and activities from prior Evo years, with players' panels, exhibitions, the indie gallery, the Evo Arcade, and more, including a new format for what is being called the Evo Throwback Tournaments, featuring older titles with more information yet to come.
