Shaggy

Story

Norville Shaggy Rogers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, a seemingly well-to-do couple who live in a big house. Shaggy had a dog once named Zoinks. Afterward, he adopted Scooby from the Knittingham Puppy Farm, and the two have been inseparable since then. Upon meeting Fred, Daphne, and Velma, he joined them in forming the Mystery Incorporated, and they went on adventures together solving crimes. 

Shaggy did several things with Scooby, including helping out with taking care of Scrappy Doo, Scooby’s nephew. When Mystery Inc. breaks up, he joins the airport customs with Scooby. Apparently, he is also a pilot, as he once flew a plane with the gang. He is also revealed to have graduated from High School.

He briefly dated Velma, but they broke up, and it is unclear if they ever got back together. No matter the situation, Shaggy and Scooby have always stuck together and are essentially inseparable. 

Personality

Shaggy is as hippie a character as they come. His laid-back attitude and generally relaxed nature have even led to some controversy as some people have made the assumption he is a recreational drug user. A claim that is said to have mortified the creators of the show. Besides his cool character, Shaggy, along with Scooby, is a ‘professional’ coward and is the first to run from danger. He and Scooby’s cowardice is often the main source of humor in the show and is generally played for laughs. While Shaggy and Scooby will bolt the moment they feel scared or threatened, Shaggy has shown himself to be quite brave in certain situations, especially if his colleagues are in danger. 

Shaggy is also constantly craving food, another reason why some people believe he’s a drug user and will go to great lengths to grab a bite. He and Scooby are easily tempted by Scooby snacks and can sometimes be bribed with them to get into a spot of danger or to act as bait for the villain.

Playstyle

Shaggy is a bruiser character. He gets into the fight with the help of his very easy-to-use and understand moves. Shaggy also has a rage mechanic, which is very useful when fighting as it gives his moves extra properties, including armor. His rage mode enables his moves to go further and hit harder. 

Appearance

Shaggy is a lanky character who typically wears a v-neck T-shirt with brown bell-bottom pants and shoes. His slight frame is great for hiding as he is able to fit himself in difficult positions while hiding from monsters or villains. Shaggy has a goatee and dirty blond hair. Also, his speech pattern is distinct as he inserts the word ‘like’ just about everywhere. Wildly popular with fans, Shaggy is something of a poster boy for the hippie.
