General Shao

Story

In the original timeline, Shao Kahn was the ruler of Outworld who seeks to rule all the realms. He looked to invade Earthrealm which was what Raiden and his warriors looked to stop in the original Mortal Kombat story. He is the adoptive father of Kitana and Mileena was created for him by Shang Tsung as his true daughter. Shao Kahn also adopted Skarlet whom he gave blood magic to serve him, which she did.

Shao Kahn would eventually defeat Blaze and attain godhood. Then he killed Raiden and was the victor in Armageddon. 

In the alternate timeline, he was still hungry to rule over the realms and this leads him to place his trust in the devious Quan Chi. Using Shao Kahn's lust for conquest, Quan Chi was able to get the dictator killed by the Elder gods and used the diversion to invade both Earthrealm and Outworld. 

Shao Kahn's rule over Outworld suffered greatly as a result and Kotal Kahn took over the empire. Kotal was able to make peace with some of the divided races within Outworld and was generally liked over Mileena who believed she was the heir to the throne. 

Shao Kahn was brought back to life, but was again pitted against Kronika who was the keeper of time. In his quest for power, he was again tricked by Shang Tsung who became the keeper of time, and absorbed the souls of both Shao Kahn and his partner, Sindel. 

MK1

Son of a great military family, Shao was destined for greatness. Things looked great as it became clear very quickly that young Shao had an exceptional mind and the will to rule with absolute power. There was just one problem— he had a sickly body. Shao had been cursed from birth with a body unfit for the life of a soldier. This should have ended all ambitions, but his father, proud as he was, determined to make his son the strongest, by hook or crook. 

First, all Shao’s doctors were dismissed after which Shao’s father subjected his son to horrific conditions in a bid to ensure he had the right body fit for his gifted mind. The sacrifices paid off, and Shao came to possess a powerful body. At what cost, we do not know. However, his military successes ensured he was praised and respected throughout the kingdom. But, the poison of ambition began to well in him and he saw a chance to turn on his empress, Sindel. Shao’s loyalties will always be to Outworld and if his Empress was going to be a hindrance, she would have to disappear.

Personality

Cruel and unforgiving, General Shao is willing to get rid of anyone who gets in his way. He is highly ambitious, wanting to be the ruler of everything. Interestingly, he does seem to be a very loyal individual. He is loyal to Outworld and ultimately wants his land to be the very best. But, his idea of 'best' might not be what everyone else has in mind.
