Kouma Kishima is a half-demon eldest son of the Kishima family and a head of the Kishima clan, a branch of the Tohno family. Even among the mixed-bloods, his demon part is so strong that he's barely a human. Kouma is a perfect result of his family's efforts to make their bloodline as strong as possible by mixing their blood with Oni. However, Kishimas grew scared of their creation and tried to hide Kouma from everyone for years. He lived in a small room with minimal contact with the outer world except for the forest and animals he liked. He was never taught anything and never learned to understand humans and their behavior, expressions, or even words. The other family members were terrified if they encountered him, and Kouma would rather live in the wild since it appeared to bring him comfort, but Kishimas couldn't allow the family successor to act like that.
Despite being abandoned, with little to no knowledge about what the family is, he still protected them by learning to control his inner strength and bloodlust, which was a part of his demon heritage. However, the Kishima family mansion was burned down, and the clan was destroyed except for Kouma. Barely ten years old, he was taken to the Saiki family mansion, where he was kept chained by arms and legs, despite being heavily wounded.
Later, after the Saiki family was also destroyed, by the orders of Makihisa Tohno, Kouma slaughtered the entire Nanaya clan except for Shiki Nanaya, whose mother covered him from the killing blow. Kiri Nanaya was the last capable warrior standing against Kouma, but the battle's outcome was predictable since he was just a human. Still, Kiri stood on par with half-demon and fought well until the end. This battle affected Kouma's personality a lot, as he learned what it means to be truly alive.
After the massacre, Kouma decided to distance himself from society and live in the mountains as a hermit, looking for spiritual enlightenment. At some point, he was allowed to reside at the Tohno mansion as the head of the Kishima family, but when Akiha Tohno requested to leave the mansion, Kouma apparently returned to the mountains.
As it's been told, Kouma Kishima chose to live in the mountains, distanced from everyone, in search of peace and meaning in his existence. He might've spent the rest of his days in such an exile, allowing his family's name and himself to fade quietly. Despite how Kouma mindlessly rages into battle with demon blood boiling inside, he is a religious Buddhist and a disciplined warrior. However, his behavior in battle reflects his inner strength and bloodlust, and his ability to use Scorching Heat turns everyone on his way to ash.
Kouma Kishima is a hard-hitting brawler who's excellent at punishing aggressive opponents. He has a great variety of close-range options for both defensive and offensive gameplay, including his terrifying command grab series Crushing Blow which can easily break through an opponent's defense. His counterpokes could be easily converted into corner carry or knockdown. However, his air options a quite limited, and lacking ranged tools force him to stand on the ground, waiting for the opponent's mistake.
