A street brawler from a young age, Sagat suffered significant injuries throughout, including losing his left eye. After a while, he joined a Muay Thai dojo to become proficient in that martial art. Although he struggled at first, he eventually became a legend and earned the title of “the emperor of Muay Thai.”
Sagat also took in an apprentice, Adon, with whom he later entered the World Warrior Tournament. Sagat fought Ryu, who became desperate to win the fight and used Shoryuken on Sagat, injuring him greatly.
Once recovered, Sagat learned a new technique to prepare for his rematch with Ryu, the Tiger Blow. Adon had lost a lot of respect for Sagat after that and even challenged him for the best Muay Thai fighter title. Adon would win but be injured for months.
Sagat felt like he was losing control of his life, so he joined Shadaloo and M. Bison, who promised him a rematch with Ryu and more power in a bid to regain his strength. After his rematch with Ryu, Ryu let him win; Sagat came to understand that continuing with his vendetta would not bring him any joy.
