Maybe we're about to find out?
There's a lot of talk in the FGC about how much people love rivalries, narratives, and "thuggery," the spice that turns regular matches into historical showdowns. Well, if you like it, come and take a look, because NuckleDu is delivering.
He and Caba recently faced against each other at Cream City Convergence, with Caba's Guile taking a 0-2 set against NuckleDu's Cammy and Guile. Check out the timestamped video below to see exactly how that went down.
Nothing special if you just look at the footage, we don't get mic'd up competitors after all. However, at the venue itself, NuckleDu didn't appreciate Caba's pop-off and the winner calling himself "the #1 Guile," prompting him to issue the $10k FT7 challenge to Caba.
Many people have already pointed out that the $10k is an unrealistic goal. It's a massive chunk of money for anyone but the richest competitors. No matter how confident one might be in their skill, at some point, the money reaches that level where you have to consider if even 1% chance of failing is worth it.
NuckleDu addresses this by mentioning that MenaRD could likely supply this sort of bet for his best friend.
However, both Caba and MenaRD are yet to comment on this, and indeed it doesn't seem too likely that we'll see a follow-up as long as this match requires putting down ten whole grand on the table.
With that said, NuckleDu and Caba are both extremely strong players, so even if the plank isn't lowered, we're bound to see them square off in future tournaments.
