The FGC At the Game Awards: Trailers, News, & Nominated Fighting Games

The Game Awards is the night when the gaming industry gets together and celebrates the best games and developers of the soon-to-end year while also looking forward to some of the biggest players in years to come.

Coming in, Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 were two titles released in 2023 that had the potential to take a trophy home. Although the prize they were both aiming to get was the Fighting Game of The Year, there were also other awards at hand and news for players of some of FGC's most beloved titles. Innovation in Accessibility

Both, Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 were up for the Award, but neither would take the award home, as Forza Motorsport would stand above the rest.

Esports Event of The Year

Evo 2023 was among the nominated events, yet sadly, it would lose out to Riot and its League of Legends' 2023 World Championship, which was held in Seoul, South Korea.

Most Anticipated Game

Tekken 8 was among some very challenging opponents for most anticipated games, and unfortunately, one of those titans, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, won the award.

Best Multiplayer Game

Although nominated for the award, Street Fighter 6 did not win over the Award sweeping Baldur's Gate 3.

Trailers & Announcements

Shown during the game awards was the world premiere of Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, which is part of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series.

Shown at the game awards was also the latest character to join the Guilty Gear -Strive- roster, Elphelt Valentine. Unfortunately, it was leaked earlier via Arc System's Asia team. In the same trailer, it was announced a new 3v3 mode was coming to Strive.
