He plans to just get on with it
Bae Jae-Min better known as Knee, who is one of the greatest Tekken players of all time, has walked back a recent tirade he made on social media regarding character balancing in Tekken 8.
The latest entry into the storied Tekken legacy, has been a rollercoaster with certain decisions regarding gameplay balance splitting the fanbase drastically. However, as an esport through which several players get their livelihood, it is difficult to avoid or drop the game.
The new character, Fahkumram, was released recently and this also brought with it a lot of changes to the cast, including some for Anna and Nina. These changes haven't been well received, with Knee criticizing the move, and players in general are dissatisfied with the fact that devs seem to be implementing opinions found on social media.
Following this outburst, Knee has come out to apologize stating that as a professional, he should simply figure out a way to win and do that rather than complain about the strengths or weaknesses of a character.
He said: I want to apologize for my tweet yesterday. Today, I was about to make a post about a specific character, but suddenly I thought, "What am I even doing?"
I came to the conclusion that I don't want to be someone who acts like that. As a professional player, I believe it's our job to prove ourselves through skill. I’m not going to cry out for nerfs or call a character "Top 2" and demand changes. that kind of bullshit is childish.
Also, if one of my posts ends up influencing a nerf, that could upset or disappoint people who enjoy that character, right? So I’d rather not do it.
Yesterday’s post was made in a moment of anger, and I regret acting on impulse. I sincerely apologize for that. The reason I’ve been staying quiet about balance lately is because I want to trust BNE’s approach to it. But seeing how complaints on X about certain characters or moves often lead to actual changes in the next patch... I don’t think that’s a healthy direction for the game.
Still, I do hope things improve and above all,
I hope everyone can enjoy the game.
Have a great day!
Tekken 8 has been in a rocky place ever since the release of the second season which sent fans into something of a meltdown. Things are beginning to normalize, and it is hoped that by the time passes, the decisions made on the game today start to look better as implementations are made.
