Tekken 7 at Kumite in Tennessee 2022: The Closer
One of the greatest tournament series going out with a bang

Kumite in Tennessee 2022 is the final planned KiT event and therefore possibly the last. Fittingly, an event that was always known for fierce Tekken competition ended up with the biggest Tekken bracket of 160 players. Lots of strong players from all over the USA came together for the best sendoff you could possibly ask.

Leading up to the top 8 we had relatively predictable results with the top players securing their position in the finals. However, there were some notable performances, namely PhiDX sending Shadow to the losers bracket and KoDee beating Ty and almost making it to the top 8 until losing later to Cuddle_Core.

Moving to the top 8 proper, we got an interesting spread of characters. Noctis, two Katarinas, Alisa, Claudio, Lars, Nina, and Steve. Lots of specialists showing off their skill, such as Genghis D0n and American Wackdash, whose Katarina made it all the way to Winners Final but lost to LtrainLocomotive's Lars, who ended up knocking out both Kat players out of the winners bracket.

Meanwhile, the losers bracket turned into an utter bloodbath as Shadow 20z fought his way through one great players after another, defeating Cuddle_Core, Genghis D0n, PhiDX, and Wackdash on his way to the Grand Finals. Once there, he maintained the same momentum and focus, beating LtrainLocomotive with a 3-1 twice.

As such, the top 8 of the final Kumite in Tennessee Tekken tournament is:

  • 1. Shadow 20z
  • 2. LtrainLocomotive
  • 3. American Wackdash
  • 4. PhiDX
  • 5. Genghis D0n
  • 5. O.N.2
  • 7. Cuddle_Core
  • 7. Victim_of_Ritual
