The Game Awards held and several announcements were made, but perhaps one of the most exciting ones was a teaser of the upcoming Street Fighter movie that is slated for release next year.
The movie which has been in some sort of limbo is finally coming to life and fans caught the first glimpse with a minute-long teaser showing fans a little of what to expect.
Nothing is known of the plot, but it will feature most of the celebrated world warrior characters with a few surprises such as Joe from the very first Street Fighter game and Dan Hibiki who will be played by Andrew Schulz.
From the teaser, there is a sense that the movie embraced a lot of the camp that made the original 1994 movie a cult classic. With large improvements in technology, some of the things that the 1994 movie couldn’t do, such as give Ryu a decent fireball and create a believable Blanka, won’t be a problem this time around.
With all that being said, the reception to the teaser seems good, and it is hoped that there is an amazing movie in there, not one with any real seriousness, but enjoyable in every way.
