Evo, widely regarded as the biggest fighting game tournament in the world, annually welcomes thousands of players from across the globe to compete in a variety of games.
Registration for the 2025 edition began on March 16, and with the tournament scheduled to take place from August 1 to 3, several players have already signed up.
The tournament organizers have released a preliminary leaderboard showing which games currently have the highest number of registered participants. At the top of the list is Street Fighter 6, which has been a global phenomenon since its release in 2023.
It is followed by Tekken 8 in second place. Despite a controversial Season 2 patch, the game has retained significant popularity among fans. Next is Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, followed by Guilty Gear Strive.
While Fatal Fury might not boast the largest player base, the amount of funding SNK has invested in the game is substantial. As a result, the prize pool is notably large. SNK recently announced a total prize pool of $2.5 million for its SNK World Championship 2025 event.
At the bottom of the list is Mortal Kombat 1, which has faced controversy following the developers’ announcement that no new characters or features will be added. Although there is still some commitment to balance patches, many in the community believe Mortal Kombat 1 is effectively finished until the next installment from NetherRealm Studios.
