Fatal Fury: CotW Announces Championship Prize Pool Of $2.5m

The release of Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves has been met with great fanfare and the game has been favorably reviewed so far. To add to the hype, SNK have announced that CotW will be part of the SNK World Championship 2025 along with some of the other games under the SNK stable. 

Players were left bug-eyed when it was also announced that the CotW tournament prize pool for SWC will be $2.5 million, making it the highest ever prize pool for a fighting game. The winner of the CotW tournament will earn a cool $1.5 million, which will also be the highest payout for a fighting game player. 

In a post on social media, the CotW official account stated:

"The titles for the SNK World Championship 2025, a global tournament dedicated to SNK fighting games, have been finalized! 

"City of the Wolves alone will have a total prize pool of $2,500,000; the champion will walk away with $1,500,000! More information about prizing, qualifier schedules, and so on will be released soon. Don't miss this opportunity!"

This has, of course, prompted a lot of discussion as it is clear that such financial backing is coming from the ties to Saudi Arabia the game has. It seems most of the comments following this have been positive with fans excited at the current era of fighting games bringing with it, incredible financial incentive.

It will be interesting to see if players leave the current games they are playing to focus on CotW.
