Things are getting interesting
Some new footage featuring the upcoming Street Fighter 6 character, Elena, has given the community some hopeful insight regarding some of the changes to come with season 3 of the game.
A video of the new build of the game, with an Elena mirror match, has been floating around, and players and fans have started to make inferences about what could be new with the new patch.
The footage showed off some of Elena's moves and how she is able to play and a lot of things started to stand out.
Throw Loop Changes?
The first and probably most notable change was in the throw loop system. First off, it seems clear that Elena does not have a throw loop which places her in the category of E. Honda and Chun li who also are unable to utilize the throw loop system. But players also noticed that in the case of a throw, if the defending player techs, it builds them about a bar of drive meter. If this is indeed the case and it is implemented correctly, it significantly raises the risk for anyone executing throw loops. Some did bring up a possibility of players abusing this by going for a delay throw, which would make it so that the defender now seems like the aggressor, and the attacker is now the one to enjoy the meter gain. But, this also comes with downsides as a delay throw would allow the defender to wake up with buttons, which would get the aggressor off them.
Elena's Super Arts
The footage also gave a few more details about Elena's super arts. The first super art apparently can be used twice in quick succession which should make juggling fun for the player.
For the second super art, we also got to see just how much she healed when she utilizes that option. The life Elena gains from her heal is mildly significant, but since it is locked behind a level 2 super, it doesn't seem to be something that will break the game or make it unreasonable to fight again.
For her third super, the footage allowed us to see what he critical art looked like, and it was pleasantly surprising to see that the move took inspiration from popular Japanese manga, Captain Tsubasa with Elena kicking her opponent like a football.
Elena Story
There was a little nod to Elena's story which sees it start off with a hangout with her good friend Akuma. While the conversation is in Japanese, it has been understood to mean something about the link between death and life.
More will be revealed about Elena when she drops on the 5th of June 2025, along with the patch notes for Season 3 which seem like they will bring about huge changes to the game.
