Red Bull Kumite Returns to Hold in South Africa
The invitational which is one of the biggest competitions on the calendar returns in 2023

Red Bull Kumite, one of the biggest tournaments in the FGC calendar, is returning in 2023!

The 16-person invitational, which has made a name for itself thanks to its emphasis on the 'mano a mano' style of fighting where players are locked in a ring with only the victor emerging, is back after a year off.

The tournament will feature Street Fighter 6 and will be one of the first tournaments to run the highly anticipated game. What's more, the competition will hold in Africa for the first time. From the 1st to the 2nd of July, 2023, players from around the world will gather in Pretoria, South Africa, to see who the best Street Fighter 6 player is.

Red Bull has been quite active in South Africa, with events such as Red Bull Hit the Streets taking place there, but this is another level as South Africa will now play host to the top players in the world.

15 strong contestants will be invited, with the 16th slot going to the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier.

Interested contestants can sign up for the LCQ here, while fans and other fascinated parties can get tickets here

Red Bull Kumite has grown into an incredible tournament from its beginnings in 2015, and the last one in 2021 was held in London and Las Vegas. The first was won by Mister Crimson, in a pulsating final against iDom, while the second was taken by former Evo winner and British titan, Problem X, who took down the South Korean metronome, NL

With the game coming very early in the life of Street Fighter 6, there is a lot of interest as to who could take it all.

Furthermore, AGON by AOC, one of the top businesses within the computer gaming sphere, will act as a sponsor for the event.

With a €50,000 prize pool, there is some good compensation awaiting the contestants.

You can follow all the action on the 1st and 2nd of July, 2023, on Red Bull's YouTube and Twitch channels.
