NIP Add Evo Japan Champion Kubo to Their Fatal Fury Roster
The Swedish organisation continues its FGC expansion with the signing of one of the most decorated multi-game competitors in the scene

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP), the legendary Swedish organization have continued their foray into the FGC with the announcement of their latest signing, Tsutomu "Kubo" Kubota.

Kubo was specifically signed to join their Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves team and has had a stellar career spanning multiple years and games. He was an Evo Japan champion in 2020 for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, has a 1st place finish in DNF Duel at Frosty Faustings 2023, and within the niche he is competing in, he already has two top 8 finishes at Evo Japan and Evo Las Vegas.

He spent almost 7 years with YOSHIMOTO Gaming and this represents a significant move for him as NIP will only be his second team in his career. The cultural and logistical shift of competing under a European organisation will also be an adjustment for Kubo.

Kubo posted on X in response to the announcement, saying: "Hey everyone in Sweden! My name is Kubo. I'm a new Japanese player who has joined NIP.

"I could never have dreamed of getting to play in such a prestigious team.

"I will give it my all in Fatal Fury and breathe new life into NIP."

Kubo and Koji KOG: NIP's Fatal Fury Roster

Kubo joins fellow Japanese Fatal Fury competitor Koji KOG, an established player in the title, as part of NIP's roster for the game. While both represent the organisation, Fatal Fury is an individual discipline, meaning each will be competing for their own results under the NIP banner. Fatal Fury is one of the games that will be featured at the Esports World Cup, and with neither Kubo nor Koji KOG yet qualified, they will begin their hunt for a spot at Evo Japan, which takes place in a little over a month.

NIP's Growing FGC Footprint

NIP already has a strong presence within the FGC with their team being the Street Fighter League EU champions two years in a row, and their recruitment of Meo-IL for Tekken shows their enthusiasm to increase their footprint in the competitive world of the FGC.
