Lots of new GBVSR info revealed at Anime Expo 2023
During the Anime Expo 2023, Cygames made several announcements centered around Granblue Fantasy and its spinoffs – Granblue Fantasy: Versus -RISING- and Granblue Fantasy: Relink.
Developers of the fighting game answered several questions, talked about the new mechanics, and announced a new character – Nier.
"Nier summons the primal beast Death to fight alongside her. Input Death's skills in succession and watch as they activate in order. But be careful, as this costs Love's Redemption, a resource that causes Death to become temporarily inactive once exhausted."
The developers also revealed that the GBVSR beta will be held at the end of the month on PS5 and PS4. A closed pre-access beta will start on July 27th, while an open beta available for anyone to play will begin on the 29th.
Additionally, the GBVSR Open Beta Tournament will be held at Evo 2023.
Devs also answered some questions:
"Siegfried will be playable in this month's online beta! Also, neither Siegfried nor Anila will use charge inputs."
"Rush, Backshift, and Overdrive won't be returning in Rising. Though we haven't changed our philosophy of creating the definitive introduction to fighting games, we've revamped gameplay and created all new systems to explore.
In a previous teaser, we showcased an action that looked like Rush, but that was actually part of a prototype system. It was omitted during development and later reborn into Raging Chain—sorry for any confusion!"
Granblue Fantasy: Versus -RISING- will get a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC release later this year.
