A new Capcom store has opened its doors in Ikebukuro, marking the company’s third official retail location in Japan and its second in Tokyo.
The opening follows the success of Capcom’s existing Tokyo store in Shibuya, further strengthening the publisher’s physical presence in one of the world’s most influential gaming markets.
Street Fighter 6 Makes An Appearance
The Ikebukuro store is stocked with merchandise from some of Capcom’s biggest franchises, but Street Fighter 6 clearly takes pride of place. The game has exploded in popularity across Japan, both competitively and culturally, and that momentum is reflected throughout the store’s displays.
One of the standout attractions is a large statue of Juri, a striking centrepiece that underlines just how prominent Street Fighter 6 has become. Giving that level of spotlight to a single character speaks volumes about the game’s current standing in the Japanese market.
Capcom’s retail expansion mirrors its broader success over the past few years. Between the runaway success of Street Fighter 6, the enduring strength of Monster Hunter, and the revitalisation of franchises like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, the company has firmly established itself as one of Japan’s dominant gaming forces with global reach.
That growth has also translated into esports, where Street Fighter 6 continues to anchor Capcom’s competitive ecosystem.
