Mortal Kombat 1 Named Among BAFTA's 60 Best Video Games of 2023

Over the past few years, The British Academy Film Awards, BAFTA for short, has slowly been making its way into the gaming industry, celebrating the work of developers in the industry. For 2023, the academy released an extensive list of 60 games they believe to be among the best released this year.

Among the many critically acclaimed indie titles and triple-A successes, there was also space for just one fighting game title. Mortal Kombat 1 was selected as the one and only fighting game on the list. BAFTA states that over 1200 professionals from the gaming industry reviewed 257 select games.

The BAFTA awards will take place later in April, with the final list of nominations in March. Though awards are unlikely for Mortal Kombat as it only received one vote to make this current longlist of best 2023 candidates.
