Mortal Kombat 1 Confirmed DLC Characters
MK 1's release looms ever closer and so we need to take a look at our first set of DLC characters

The Guest Characters of MK1

Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest game from the stable of Netherrealm Studios, which is slated to release on the 19th of September, 2023. The excitement surrounding the game has been very encouraging and continues to show that Mortal Kombat is the fighting game with the most reach in terms of a fanbase.

The video with the lowest views, the official Umgadi trailer, has been watched 2.5 million times which is incredible in the grand scheme of things.

Another thing that has gotten fans excited about the game is the DLC characters. Mortal Kombat has a history of presenting very colorful characters as DLC, including Freddy Kreuger in Mortal Kombat 2011, Jason Vorhees in Mortal Kombat X, and the Joker in MK11 Ultimate.

With MK1, we have a lot to look forward to, and we already have the first Kombat Pack, which gives us a glimpse into what to expect moving forward for Mortal Kombat regarding DLC.

Here, we will examine all the confirmed MK1 guest characters and will avoid any leaks or speculation.

Omni Man

Omni-Man is a fictional character from the Invincible comics written by Robert Kirkman. He is an immensely powerful character who comes from a distant planet known as Viltrum, where he is one of the generals. In a bid to more seamlessly occupy planets and take control, the Viltumites came up with a strategy to send ‘undercover agents’ to the target planet to significantly weaken it and then pave the way for a takeover.

Omni Man was assigned to Earth and took the name Nolan Grayson, living as a superhero on Earth but working to undermine it. While on earth, he married and had a son, Mark. Omni Man is modeled after Superman and is imbued with many of the same abilities. He was voiced by the ever-talented J.K. Simmons, who will reprise his role for Mortal Kombat 1

Homelander

Made to look like the perfect poster boy, Homelander is actually the main antagonist of The Boys. He was also the antagonist in both seasons 2 and 3 of the Amazon series, along with Stormfront and Soldier Boy, respectively. He is also something of a Superman clone also with his powers and is a darker representation of the Man of Steel.

Homelander is the leader of a Superhero group known as ‘The Seven’ who are responsible for the protection of the earth. In truth, he is incredibly corrupt and depraved. Homelander is rather popular among fans, and he fits in perfectly into the murky world of Mortal Kombat

Peacemaker

Peacemaker, otherwise known as Christopher Smith, is a character who is so committed to peace that he is willing to achieve it by any means possible. This earned him a 30-year stint at Belle Reve Penitentiary. It was here that he was approached by Amanda Waller, who invites him to join Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad

John Cena played the role of Peacemaker to great effect in Suicide Squad and played the role again in the eponymous series, which was a great success on HBO Max

Peacemaker has enhanced strength and is a master with weapons. Much like with Rambo and Robocop in Mortal Kombat 11, Peacemaker is a great addition to the Mortal Kombat cast.

Takeda

First introduced in Mortal Kombat X, this fighter is a member of the Shirai Ryu and the Special Forces and is also the son of Kenshi Takahashi. He was also in a relationship with Jacqui Briggs, with the two supposedly engaged to be married.

He was trained by Scorpion and was originally supposed to operate under the codename ‘Spider.’ But this was scrapped, and instead, we got Takeda with the whips. He was one of the younger generation of characters that gained prominence from Mortal Kombat X. However, with the timeline altered, we are still in the dark about this version of Takeda’s story. We will find out in due course.

Ermac

In the early days of Mortal Kombat, it was rumored that Ermac was some glitch. He became a playable character in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and is an embodiment of all the souls killed in Outworld. He was controlled by Shao Kahn for a time and used to do a lot of dirty work, but he was set free eventually and came into the possession of Shao Kahn’s soul.

Ermac is neither hero nor villain and simply aligns himself with Outworld. This means that anyone who is a fan of Outworld and will fight for its good is someone Ermac will work with. He sided with Kotal Kahn in the revolution in Outworld over Mileena. It’ll be interesting to see what form his story will take in the new game.

Quan Chi

Quan Chi is one of the major villains of the Mortal Kombat series and is considered one of the most powerful sorcerers in all the realms. He is a major ally of the fallen god Shinnok and is the embodiment of evil. His intelligent but cold scheming has earned him several enemies including Sub-Zero and Scorpion, and he was behind the murder of the latter’s family while he was the one behind Bi-Han (the original Sub-Zero) becoming the wraith, Noob Saibot

Quan Chi has not been in the last couple of Mortal Kombat iterations, and his return in MK1 is very exciting indeed.

You can be sure that there will still be quite a number of Mortal Kombat 1 guest characters and as the new ones are revealed, we will be here to have a look at them with all the attendant and obligatory ‘Oooooooooooohs’ and ‘Aaaaaaaaaahhhs.’
